Prepare your next step

A private preparation guide, not scientific approval. Answers stay in this page session; no patient information is requested or submitted.

You bring

An organized collection of authorized images, reliable labels and clinical supervision.

Prepare your next step

A collaboration for clinicians with data and expertise.

You contribute the clinical knowledge that makes an image collection useful for research. We agree the scientific scope, responsibilities and data pathway before work begins.

An eligible collection

More than 200 relevant images, subject to quality and project review. Digitized specimens and images are welcome; physical biological samples are not requested.

Permission to collaborate

Institutional authorization and an appropriate ethical and legal basis for research, training and possible commercial use. Possessing images does not establish permission to share them.

Time to guide a team

Help an assigned group of students recognize patterns and label images. Review annotations and resolve disagreements under the agreed protocol.

FROM FIRST CONTACT TO COLLABORATION

A clear path from collection to research.

  1. Describe your collection

Use the member application with your specialty, institution, image count, modality and permissions status. No images at this stage.

  2. Review the scientific fit

Discuss image quality, labeling expertise, reference standards and the feasibility of the research track.

  3. Agree rights and responsibilities

Sign the confidentiality, research, data, responsible-use and commercial-participation agreements. Resolve institutional and ethics requirements.

  4. Transfer securely and train the team

After approval, deliver the eligible collection according to the agreed schedule. Guide students in pattern recognition and review their annotations.

If permissions are not ready, do not transfer data simply to meet the deadline.

SCIENTIFIC CONTRIBUTION · SHARED VALUE

Recognition with responsibilities defined from the start.

Contribute to the resulting manuscripts

Collaborating clinicians can qualify for authorship through substantial contributions, drafting or critical revision, final approval and accountability. Contributions and author order are documented; supplying images alone does not guarantee authorship.

Guide the next generation

An assigned student group learns clinical pattern recognition, image labeling and data preparation under your supervision. Students do not make independent clinical decisions.

Define the calculation before transferring data

The signed agreement establishes the receipts and agreed deductions, allocation among clinicians, covered products and licences, duration, payments, reporting, accounting verification, taxes, termination and institutional rights.

Read the collaboration safeguards

These requirements apply before data transfer and throughout the project.

Authorized, secure data

Depending on the track, images may include digitized specimens, microscopy, radiographs, ultrasound, clinical photographs or ECGs. Do not send physical biological specimens. Remove identifiers from pixels, filenames, DICOM/EXIF metadata, dates, labels, faces and other identifying features. Coding is not anonymization. Do not transfer re-identification keys.

Possession does not establish ownership or permission. Institutional authorization and an ethical and legal basis for research, training and potential commercial use are required. We agree a secure transfer route and verify de-identification before admitting data. Do not attach images to the initial email.

Clinicians who train teams

An assigned student group will work with each accepted clinician to learn pattern recognition, image labeling and data preparation. The clinician supervises labeling criteria, annotations and disagreements; students do not make independent clinical decisions.

The protocol defines reference standards, quality, duplicate cases, patient-level separation of training and evaluation, diversity, bias assessment and validation. Data acceptance depends on these requirements and project feasibility.

Authorship through contribution

Clinicians participate as scientific collaborators with an opportunity for authorship in resulting manuscripts when they meet contribution and editorial responsibilities: substantial contribution, drafting or critical revision, final approval and accountability. Images alone do not guarantee authorship. Contributions and author order will be documented transparently.

A shared 30% commercial participation

microscopIA offers a collective 30% economic participation in commercial exploitation of the relevant AI, distributed among clinicians contributing data to that project. It is not 30% per clinician, company equity or a guaranteed return.

Before data transfer, the agreement must define the calculation base (receipts and expressly agreed deductions), allocation among clinicians, covered products and licences, term, payments, reports, accounting verification, taxes, termination and institutional rights. No definition of net proceeds or unilateral deductions is presumed. Without a signed agreement, data transfer and the project do not begin.

Prepare your proposal

Prepare a short, non-confidential description. You do not need to send images to express interest.

Clinicians & Investigators · microscopIA Network

Apply with your clinical image collection.

For active Clinicians & Investigators members. Use your membership account email. You do not need another subscription.

Before opening the application

  • Your clinical role, institution and country
  • Image modality, approximate count and availability to supervise annotation
  • Permission status — no patient records, images or identifiers

The team reviews membership and scientific fit, then confirms the scope and permissions in writing before work starts.

This link does not verify paid membership. Applying does not guarantee acceptance, authorship or publication. An initial proposal is not permission to transfer clinical material.
