STUDENTS & YOUNG PROFESSIONALS

Your review. A stronger scientific collaboration.

Bring a rigorously executed systematic review or meta-analysis. Explore manuscript preparation and open-access publication support with microscopIA.

A benefit for active paid members. Scientific assessment and written approval are required.

TWO DISTINCT DECISIONS

Scientific work and publication funding.

01 / MANUSCRIPT

Develop the paper together

microscopIA assesses the scientific contribution it can make to interpretation, manuscript development and revision within an agreed collaboration. Your team remains actively involved and accountable for its work.

The starting point: high-quality execution, documented methods and organized results.

02 / OPEN ACCESS

Assess publication-cost support

Request assessment of open-access publication fees, alongside manuscript support or separately. Any covered amount, journal and payment procedure must be authorized in writing before expenses.

Meeting the team proportion does not guarantee funding, a waiver or journal acceptance.

ELIGIBILITY

A genuine team. A clear threshold.

At least half of all genuine authors must hold active paid microscopIA Network membership. Exactly 50% meets this proportion. A free profile, external collaboration or institutional affiliation does not count as paid membership.

AUTHOR COMPOSITION

Check your member percentage

Count only authors with an active paid microscopIA Network membership. A free profile or participation as an external collaborator does not constitute membership.

Authors with active paid membership ÷ total authors × 100. For example: 3 of 5 = 60%.

Enter both counts to check the proportion.

Local preparation guide; it does not send information or approve funding. Eligibility is assessed without rounding.

Keep the full author roster: eligibility must never be achieved by excluding rightful authors or adding honorary authors.

PREPARE YOUR REQUEST

Show the quality behind the results.

01

Question & methods

Review question, protocol or registration if available, search strategy and dates, selection criteria and screening approach.

02

Execution & outputs

Current stage, organized extraction tables, quality or risk-of-bias assessment, and synthesis or analysis where applicable. Explain limitations and unfinished work.

03

Authors & affiliations

Names, contributions, actual microscopIA and external affiliations, total authors, active paid members and percentage. Identify existing corresponding-author commitments.

04

Requested support

Manuscript work, publication fees or both. Include target journal, cost estimate and deadlines if known; disclose any prior submission or payment.

Still at the idea stage?

Describe your actual stage; do not present an unfinished review as completed. If you need a supervised thesis or academic project, use the academic-project pathway to request that assessment.

FROM REQUEST TO DECISION

Know what happens next.

  1. 1

    Share your work

Describe the question, methods, stage and support needed. Include your author roster and membership composition.

  2. 2

    Scientific assessment

microscopIA evaluates execution quality, the research question, contributions and membership eligibility. Further information or methodological corrections may be needed.

  3. 3

    Written collaboration scope

If approved, confirm responsibilities, deliverables, corresponding authorship, timing and any authorized funding before work or expenses begin.

  4. 4

    Manuscript and journal review

Authors review and approve the manuscript. Journal submission, peer review and acceptance remain independent editorial decisions.

SCIENTIFIC RESPONSIBILITY

Credit, accountability and editorial independence.

Authorship follows contributions

Membership, funding or writing assistance alone do not confer authorship. Authors must make qualifying contributions, approve the final manuscript and accept accountability under the journal’s criteria.

Correspondence & agreements

For an approved collaboration, a qualifying microscopIA researcher retains the corresponding-author role, with real scientific contributions, accountability, all-author agreement and compliance with journal rules.

microscopIA assesses applicable open-access agreements through the corresponding author’s genuine, verifiable affiliations. The publisher and participating institution must confirm eligibility and coverage; no agreement or fee waiver is guaranteed.

BEFORE YOU DECIDE

Your questions, answered.

Can I start a review myself?

Yes. Students & Young Professionals may independently start systematic reviews or meta-analyses. This pathway assesses support for high-quality work; it is not automatic project approval or ongoing supervision.

Does exactly 50% qualify?

Yes, for the team proportion. We use exact counts, not rounded percentages, and verify active paid membership during assessment and before funding authorization. Scientific quality is assessed separately.

Does membership pay every publication fee?

No. Manuscript support and publication funding require separate assessment and written approval. Do not assume a fee, invoice or reimbursement is covered without authorization specifying the journal, amount and payment process.

What if I already submitted to a journal?

Disclose the journal, editorial status, existing author agreements and any invoice or payment deadline. Existing commitments must be reviewed; do not promise a change of corresponding author or funding to a publisher before agreement.

Is there a guaranteed turnaround?

No fixed turnaround or publication date is promised here. The approved scope sets the work schedule; revisions and the journal’s peer-review process have separate timelines.

Can nonmember coauthors participate?

Yes, provided the genuine author team meets the proportion requirement. List every author and actual affiliation. Do not add, remove or change authors simply to reach the threshold.
