The hospital or institution must authorize the collaboration and identify an accountable scientific lead. Agree the scope, deliverables, responsibilities and any costs outside the award before activation.
GLOBAL RESEARCH SUPPORT FELLOWSHIP
Scientific support where resources are limited.
Eligible institutions and investigators may apply for no-cost scientific support for a defined research project. Selection considers scientific value, feasibility, ethics, data readiness and available microscopIA capacity.
Project-level support is separate from the microscopIA Fellows talent programme. No award or publication is guaranteed.
INSTITUTIONAL COLLABORATION
A research agreement with shared responsibilities.
Research and data-sharing agreement
Define lawful purposes, data ownership/control, access, transfer, security, retention, deletion, breach response and permitted secondary use. Institutions retain control except where a specific lawful agreement provides otherwise. Scientific support is not offered in exchange for unrestricted data.
Ethics and privacy
Confirm applicable ethics approval or exemption, consent requirements, institutional governance and lawful cross-border transfer. Public application forms must not receive patient identifiers or raw datasets. Secure exchange is arranged only after approval.
Publication and recognition
Agree analysis responsibilities, publication review, authorship criteria, acknowledgments and institutional rights before work. Authorship follows contribution and accountability; support never purchases it or permits suppression of findings.

The target list uses the World Bank FY2027 low-income classification: Atlas-method 2025 GNI per capita of US$1,175 or less. Reviewed 20 September 2026. Institutional need and project eligibility are assessed individually.
