Contribution terms
Know who receives your contribution, how it may be used and how to raise a concern. These terms apply alongside the general terms and any accepted written funding agreement.

01
Choose the correct contribution route
For a single ICU Observatory contribution, use its dedicated Stripe link reached through /support? initiative=critical-care. All other initiatives use the general contribution link and its initiative selector. Both are one-time contributions. Recurring support for any program must be discussed with philanthropy@microscopiatech.com.
A contribution never activates professional membership. ICU-specific support terms also apply at /terms/observatories/critical-care#donations.
02
Recipient and informed choice
Before paying, check the legal recipient, contact details, amount, currency and payment frequency displayed by the payment provider. microscopIA is a public-facing brand; the collecting legal entity must be identified in the transaction documents.
If the recipient or purpose is unclear, contact finance@microscopiatech.com before paying.
A voluntary contribution is not an investment, deposit, purchase of clinical access or promise of a financial return. Sponsorship involving advertising, procurement or other benefits requires a separate written agreement.
03
Your selected initiative
Choose the initiative in Stripe. That recorded selection designates the purpose of the contribution. Selecting “Any of the microscopIA Initiatives” authorizes allocation among microscopIA initiatives. Costs directly necessary to deliver the selected initiative, including disclosed payment processing and proportionate administration, may be charged to it; additional restrictions and overhead limits require prior written agreement.
No fixed percentage of program delivery is represented.
For a restricted grant, agree the budget, permitted costs, milestones, reporting, unspent funds and termination before transferring money. A donor message alone cannot impose additional terms that microscopIA has not accepted. No redirection outside your selected purpose is presumed.
04
Delays, cancellation and remaining funds
Program descriptions distinguish planned work from delivered activities. Dates and outcomes may change because of funding, staffing, approvals or feasibility. If an initiative cannot proceed or materially changes purpose, microscopIA will contact affected donors to explain the position and seek a lawful refund or expressly agreed alternative.
Silence is not consent to reallocation. Treatment of funds already properly spent follows the funding agreement and mandatory law.
05
Payment, receipts and recurring contributions
Review the final checkout total, currency, any conversion costs and whether the payment is one-time or recurring. Do not assume recurrence from this page: the checkout controls the selected frequency. Keep the confirmed processor receipt and transaction reference.
An acceptance receipt or a return to Global is not proof of payment. Never send card numbers or security codes by email or chat.
If a recurring option is offered, its amount, frequency and cancellation method must be disclosed before enrollment. Cancel future charges through the processor management link where available, or contact finance. Cancellation of future installments does not itself resolve a refund request for earlier payments.
06
Mistakes, unauthorized charges and refunds
Report duplicate, mistaken, unauthorized or disputed charges to finance@microscopiatech.com with the reference, date, amount and requested remedy. We review the transaction, applicable law, accepted restrictions and use of funds; there is no blanket “non-refundable” waiver.
Statutory withdrawal, reversal, chargeback and other mandatory rights remain available where applicable. Contacting us does not require you to let a legal or card-provider deadline expire.
Approved refunds normally return through the original payment route, subject to processor and legal requirements. Any lawful deduction must be explained; a fee is not automatically deducted when the law requires a full refund.
We do not promise a settlement date controlled by a bank.
07
Optional recognition for monthly mental-health supporters
Donors with an active, verified monthly contribution strictly greater than USD 150 to the mental health program will be invited to provide an organization logo or approved public name and short profile for the service page acknowledgement section.
USD 150 exactly does not meet this threshold. Publication requires express approval of the material, authority to use the logo and an agreed display scope. No donor name, logo, amount or personal information is published by default.
Donors may remain anonymous and may request removal of public recognition without affecting their contribution or rights.
The team verifies payment and requests consent before publication; payment does not automatically publish a profile. Acknowledgement is a thank-you, not an advertising purchase, clinical endorsement, naming right, access privilege or scientific decision-making role.
Separate advertising or sponsorship services require a written agreement. Display timing and duration are confirmed with the donor, and the listing is reviewed if monthly support changes or ends.
08
Knowing the service without compromising confidentiality
Donors may request a program introduction or demonstration using no real patient consultation or records. A donor wishing to receive care personally may book under the ordinary clinical eligibility, jurisdiction, consent, availability and fee rules.
A contribution does not purchase a session, guarantee an appointment or confer clinical priority. No donor may observe another person’s care or access their clinical records, recordings or identifiable information through this invitation.
Feedback and concerns can be raised through the program contact channels without influencing individual care decisions.
09
Reporting and two-way accountability
Donors will receive financial reporting on funds received, expenditure and remaining balances, alongside privacy-protecting evidence of operations. The initiative will communicate its reporting dates; a restricted funding agreement specifies its reporting timetable and detail.
Donors may also request available updates through finance. These reports are not represented as an independent audit opinion or a real-time dashboard. Questions, corrections and complaints do not reduce a donor’s rights.
10
Independence and beneficiary dignity
Support does not buy authorship, clinical priority, access to patient records, favorable findings, control over staff or suppression of results. Recognition, logo use and public naming require separate permission. Beneficiary images, stories and research participation require their own lawful authorization; essential services must not depend on agreeing to publicity.
11
Privacy, tax and verification
We use necessary donor and transaction information to process contributions, maintain required records, prevent fraud, respond to requests and provide program reporting. Payment providers process payment information under their own notices. Donor identities and amounts are not published without authorization or a legal requirement.
Marketing consent is separate. Contact us to exercise applicable data rights; legally required records may need to be retained.
No charitable status, tax deduction or fiscal certificate is guaranteed. A payment receipt is not automatically a tax-deductible donation certificate. Consult your own tax adviser. We may decline or return contributions where required by law, sanctions, fraud controls or a conflict with program independence.
12
Complaints and preserved rights
Write to finance@microscopiatech.com for a financial concern or contact@microscopiatech.com for program conduct. Explain the issue without sensitive beneficiary data. We seek a documented resolution and respond within applicable legal deadlines. These terms do not exclude liability for fraud, willful misconduct or obligations that cannot lawfully be limited, prevent regulator complaints, or compel waiver of a lawful court remedy.
13
Merchant payment conditions
The payment conditions at /terms/stripe form part of these terms: authorization, recurring billing, transaction confirmation, refunds, privacy and complaints. Read them before confirming your contribution.
14
Project funding, recognition and independence
Donors may fund approved operations or publication agreements for an existing microscopIA project. Confirm the project, budget, reporting schedule, restrictions and payment route in writing before paying. The public initiatives at /support#fund-a-study are planned projects; dates and partner limits are not proof of regulatory authorization, available places or secured funding.
Confirmed contributions strictly above USD 2,000 to an agreed project qualify for acknowledgement of the individual, family or organization in its resulting manuscript, subject to permission, journal policy, actual publication and independence review.
Complete the donor disclosure at /forms/project-funding/donor-disclosure.pdf before acceptance. Disclose relevant relationships honestly; an unmanageable conflict prevents acceptance. Funding itself must be disclosed and never buys authorship, inventorship, scientific control or access to participants.
Unused funds are reported. Reallocation requires specific advance authorization naming the alternative initiative and limits in the funding agreement, or subsequent donor agreement. Otherwise the parties agree a lawful refund or alternative; silence is not authorization.
Donor recognition in patent-related documents is offered only where legally permitted and never as inventorship for financial support alone. Actual inventors and economic ownership are established under applicable law and written IP agreements.
15
Discuss a proposed initiative before committing
To support an existing project, propose a new initiative or community pilot, use the embedded Global inquiry at /forms/fund or email philanthropy@microscopiatech.com. You may contribute directly through the Stripe route on /support where the intended allocation is available and understood.
A proposal, email or payment alone does not approve a new project, reserve naming rights or establish restricted-fund conditions. Agree feasibility, permissions, budget, milestones, reporting, unused-funds handling and any refund or alternative in writing before a restricted contribution.
Financial transaction complaints remain with finance@microscopiatech.com.
