ACADEMIC PATHWAYS · STUDENTS & YOUNG PROFESSIONALS

Advance your academic work through supervised research.

Request microscopIA approval for an existing project or a new proposal, with expert research supervision or cosupervision and a plan aligned with your institution.

What are you working toward?

Academic credits or research placement

Define the research question, learning outcomes, expected outputs, required hours or credits and assessment criteria. Share what your institution requires and identify anything still being confirmed.

One plan. Clear responsibilities.

You contribute

Your question, preparation, institutional requirements and sustained work. You conduct, understand and defend your own academic contribution.

microscopIA contributes

Scientific feasibility review, expert matching and agreed supervision, methods or technical collaboration. A named expert must accept the role and have capacity.

Your institution decides

Credits, thesis eligibility, assessment and external-supervisor approval. Required agreements must be confirmed before execution.

What your request needs

  1. Request type, institution and country, programme/department, academic level and membership status.
  2. Existing project title/code or new proposal: question, methods, deliverables, skills and available resources.
  3. Institutional supervisor or collaborator: name, role and approval status. State if not yet assigned.
  4. Programme coordinator or authorized institutional contact: name, role and institutional email, shared with permission. Identify if not yet known.
  5. Academic requirements, credits/hours, assessment rubric, external-supervision rules, planned start, institutional deadline/time zone, weekly availability and working languages.
  6. Nonconfidential description of data readiness, ownership, permissions and ethics requirements. Optional CV and academic/project brief in PDF; no patient records, raw datasets, identity documents or restricted institutional material.

Review before activation

Submit the request → scientific and institutional review → written approval and supervision plan → execution, progress review and documented outcomes. Initial enquiries may identify requirements still to be confirmed.

Agree the named supervisor and institutional counterpart, responsibilities, learning outcomes, workload, milestones, meeting cadence, deliverables, assessment records, data/IP/publication terms, ethics permissions and any applicable costs before work begins.

Your institution awards credits, grades and degrees. A microscopIA participation certificate reflects verified work, not automatic academic credit or a fixed credit equivalence. Membership does not guarantee a thesis supervisor, academic-project approval or inclusion of every project cost.

You may enquire before membership activation. Approved participation follows the pathway’s eligibility and written scope. Supervision supports your learning; it is not ghostwriting, a purchased thesis or purchased authorship. Publication and journal decisions remain independent.

For universities and training programmes

Discuss learning outcomes, external-supervisor eligibility, institutional assessment and governance for an individual project or student cohort.
